With all the data breaches making headlines, everyone is aware of the threat of hackers and viruses. Many online service providers have increased security measures to notify customers whenever they detect suspicious or unusual activity.

Ironically, cybercriminals take advantage of these increased security measures and use them to exploit users -- by sending fake phishing scams designed to look like a security notification. Users then click on a link thinking they are protecting their account and inadvertently fall for the scam hook, line and sinker.
